MEET OUT INSTRUCTORS

Karl Kanthak

Master Instructor

Karl Kanthak began his martial arts journey in the 1980’s, when there were only 3 martial arts schools in Vancouver, WA. Mr. Kanthak has achieved high rank in several systems, and continues to expand his knowledge base today. Mr. K categorizes himself as a martial artist, instructor, and school owner, in that order.

Most importantly, “Mr. K” has devoted a tremendous amount of time into researching and implementing the most effective teaching theory, strategies, and tactics available. The teaching of martial arts, the creation of a school community, nurturing positive peer groups, etc., are all separate skills from being a competent martial artist, or “good at karate”.

Mr. K is from a family of lifelong educators, both his mother and father were teachers, and his father was an administrator, and the Executive Director of the VEA.

Kenneth Kanthak

Head Instructor/Administrator/Event Cordinator

Kenny Kanthak has literally grown up at Kanthak Karate. Mr. K used to teach classes with Kenny in a Baby Bjorn chest carrier. Mr. Kenny has a natural talent for teaching, combined with the personal mentorship of his father, Mr. K.

Mr. Kenny is a great facilitator of fun at the social events, and often DJ’s the nerf and other parties.

Kenny is an all-around athlete, lettered in track at Washougal High School all 4 of his years, qualifying and placing in for Washington State in the 300-meter hurdles and 4×100 Relay.

Kenny’s hobbies include skateboarding, snowboarding, DJ’ing, content creation, and Dungeons and Dragons.
